Kingsthorpe Parish Council recently awarded a grant to Obelisk Spinney Pocket Park to buy 19 tonnes of gravel and hire a compactor to resurface damaged paths in the spinney.

This work will take place at a special volunteering event on bank holiday Monday, 8th May, which is the national Big Help Out day.

They are asking anyone who can spend an hour (or two) during the day to shovel and spread gravel. It will be fairly heavy work, but refreshments will be provided.

They plan to start work at 9.30am and finish by 3.30pm but of course, the more people they get, the more quickly the job will be done!

You can book your place on this event on the Big Help Out website or email enquiries@obeliskspinney.org
